Get away from it all! If you're in desperate need of a break from everyday life, then why not visit some of these websites with some of our personal favourite romantic places to visit and romantic cottages to stay at. Please note - this list is a work in progress and they'll all be in random order!
- The Winster Valley, The Lake District, England. Most of us will have visited the beautiful Lake District (the home of Romantic Retreats!) but sometimes the congestion on both roads and walking routes can be frustrating. Fortunately there are still plenty of undiscovered places for your prefect romantic break. One of our favourites is the Winster Valley - it offers some of the most romantic scenery, some great walks and some of the best pubs in The Lakes. Eat and Drink at The Masons Arms at Strawberry Bank (visit website) or The Brown Horse Inn at Winster (visit website). Stay at The Bothy at Cowmire Hall or Headswood Cottage.
- The Ardfern Peninsular south of Oban. One of our favourite romantic weekend getaways with wonderful scenery, peace and quiet, seal spotting and the "away from it all" feeling. Eat at the Crafty Kitchen - last time we went they were serving Langoustines caught that morning...heaven! Stay at Bay View near Inverary - a fair drive but within reach!
- Hidden gems abound in a forgotten corner - the Welsh Borders just west of Ludlow famous for its Michelin starred dining. Visit the amazing Hampton Court Gardens, dine in style in Ludlow, take a day trip to the amazing Powis Castle and tuck yourself away in amazing seclusion by staying at Pentrusco a Romantic Welsh Farmhouse set in 80 acres of private grounds all to yourself! Or how about Brook Farm near Berrington : a lovely B&B with self catering accomodation just over the border into England in the lovely Teme Valley.
