Pauntley Court Holiday Let
Pauntley Court Drive
This retreat is ideal if you want to feel pampered. It has incredible views, underfloor heating, a super king-sized bed, and if you are partial to a long soak in the bath you are in for a treat. Pauntley Court’s self catering escape is a bolthole created to help recharge your batteries in the countryside of Pauntley, on the edge of the Cotswolds.
This romantic retreat is the rumoured birthplace of Dick Whittington, who travelled from Pauntley to become Lord Mayor of London. It is perfect for a couple and is part of the historic Pauntley Court building, with its own entrance, enabling you to tuck yourselves away in complete privacy and luxury.
You can wake up in the splendour of a super king-sized bed with luxurious linen and heated blankets. The bedroom has gorgeous wooden beams and flooring, perfect for romantics. Our favourite room in this house has got to be the bathroom, with its generous bath, high ceiling and country feel. Other rooms have also been dressed to impress. There is a kitchen and a cosy sitting room with traditional brick flooring and a wood burner. Pauntley Court has incredible views across the Leadon Valley, and just outside is another surprise…
This retreat has beautiful formal gardens. The mundane strains of the 21st Century will be lost on sight of the Leaden Valley. And once you have enjoyed these, Pauntley Court is ideally located to explore. Nearby are the market towns of Newent and Ledbury, the spa towns of Malvern and Cheltenham and the cathedral cities of Gloucester, Tewkesbury and Hereford. The village of Pauntley is on the edge of the Cotswolds, two and half hour’s drive from London.
There’s a whole range of sights to see once you are here. Garden fans can visit Sir Roy Strong’s The Laskett Garden, the finest formal garden to be laid out since the last war. You can enjoy lunch at the Butcher’s Arms Woolhope, which has an excellent reputation for food and real ale.
Walkers have May Hill and easy access to The Malverns, with over 3,000 acres in which to walk and the charming and old fashioned Kettle Sings for lunch.
The Three Counties Showground hosts an annual gardening weekend in the Spring and its Royal Three Counties Show in June is very popular. There are further shows and events throughout the year. And in the evenings, Theatre goers can enjoy the Malvern Theatres’ programme and the Everyman in Cheltenham. Hellens, a manor house in Much Marcle has some lovely classical events in magical surroundings. If you fancy a foodie treat, there are plenty of destinations to tickle your tastebuds. Try dinner at The Butcher’s Arms Eldersfield, a Michelin starred restaurant in a rustic setting only 15 minutes away.Check Availability & Prices
