Bijou | A pet friendly luxury apartment for couples with sea views across to Padstow Harbour in Cornwall

If you’re looking for a room with a view then this retreat will spoil you. With its windows pointing out across pretty Camel Estuary, Bijou is the perfect place to sit back and relax, watching boats and paddle boarders on the Padstow waters from the comfort of your own bespoke apartment. Pet friendly.

Rock is a lovely place to catch some time away. The famous TV chef Rick Stein has his restaurant just a stone’s throw away; the Cornish coastline is at your doorstep, and the chilled humdrum of a picturesque fishing village is all around you.

The owners of Bijou have designed this luxury first floor apartment to make the most of its gorgeous location, with windows and a terrace overlooking the waters. And inside, this retreat is full of sophisticated modern design twinned with home comforts.

Step through the door and you’ll find a standout Cornish stone feature wall and spiral staircase leading up to your rooms. Once up there, the whole apartment is bathed in coastal light from the huge windows, so you can treat the ever-changing seascape and southern skies like your very own cinema experience.

Rooms are open plan and include a living space with a two-seater sofa, Spitfire leather swivel chair, coffee table, and 32-inch television. The bedroom, just across, has a sumptuous king-size bed with Egyptian cotton sheets and has ample furniture for a week away, including a designer full length mirror. Plus there’s soft bath robes waiting for you. We like how you can pull the sliding doors back for ocean views and fresh air from the comfort of your own bed. There’s an en-suite bathroom including a double walk in rainfall shower, heated towel rail and underfloor heating.

Next to your bedroom you will find a fully equipped kitchen, with a Neff hob, grill and oven, and Bosch fridge and freezer. Plus there’s a dishwasher, wine cooler, microwave, cafetiere, Sabatier knives, and copper Kuhn Rikon pots – so you can cook in style.

Speaking of handy included features, the flat also has wifi, and the apartment has a washing machine with dryer too.

There’s another separate sunroom with comfortable Swedish Ekornes chair and a footstool, for deep relaxing. And once you’ve fully slowed down to the pace of the seaside, you can step out onto Bijou’s private balcony. This is a great place for morning coffee, with its own table and chairs and there’s two sun-loungers for whiling away those sunny afternoons.

You can park at the property, with a covered space under the apartment for a medium sized car. If your car is bigger, you can use the car park, which is only a 2 minute walk away.

When you are ready to explore the area there are some lovely opportunities for walks nearby. You are right on the side of Rock beach, and there’s Daymer Bar nearby. Hop on the water, on the ferry to Padstow, with Taxi Boat points just outside Bijou.

If you’ve come looking for water sports, it’s all happening here – with Camel Ski School and Rock Sailing Club. There’s space to store surfboards at Bijou if you are bringing your own. For the enthusiastic golfers, the prestigious St Enodoc’s Hotel and Golf Course is just a short wander away. For others, there’s a string of nice shops to explore, including independents mixed with shops like White Stuff and Jack Wills.

And then there’s the food. As Bijou is right by the harbour, expect a treat for anyone who enjoys seafood. Rock is home to fine dining eatery No.1 Rock Road, as well as the chilled Blue Tomato cafe located directly next door. The quaint fishing village of Padstow, which we highly recommend you spend some time exploring, offers Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant, as well as modern British and Michelin starred restaurant No 6 by Paul Ainsworth.
