Luxury Tents Catalunya | Safari-style Glamping on the Costa Brava, Spain

And now for something completely different! If you love the idea of camping but are still traumatised by childhood memories of damp and soggy campsites in Blighty then we highly recommend a romantic break in one of these luxury tents in one of the most beautiful - and sun-drenched - spots in Europe. Located on the stunning coastline of the Costa Brava in northern Spain these safari style tents offer a luxury break in the sun and are only a stone’s throw away from the turquoise shores of the Med.

This is taking glamping to a whole new level. Owners Rivke and Carlos have created a haven in their unique tents, equipped with everything to make your stay comfortable. From your own bathroom and toilet to king size beds and a fully equipped kitchen including a dishwasher.

But make no mistake, this is still real camping with all its simple delights. Fall asleep under the canvas, hear the wind gently rustling through the trees and wake up to sunshine and birdsong. Wander out on the deck and slowly come round with a fresh coffee or juice.

Your luxury tent is located in a secluded area of Camping Internacional in Palamos, a vibrant small fishing town with plenty of restaurants, shops, a harbour and of course a great beach, all within walking distance. The Costa Brava is one of Spain’s best kept secrets with a stunning rocky coastline, romantic coves, pure blue waters and gorgeous pine trees alongside the golden sandy beaches.

The area offers a huge variety of things to do. The Baix Emporda area reminds many of Tuscany and boasts some very romantic villages such as Pals or Monells. Further into the foothills of the Pyrenees the scenery changes and feels almost alpine. When in this area a stop in the small town of Besalu is a must.

The city of Girona is another hidden gem. With its Roman remains, medieval walls, old Jewish quarter and classy 19th century squares, it’s a perfect place for a romantic walk in the evening when all the locals are out and there is a lively buzz on the streets. The airport with flights from various UK airports (from Easter until October) is just down the road, making your travel arrangements easy and stress-free.

And did we mention the food? Of course there is a plentiful supply of fresh seafood, just landed that morning. But the local restaurants offer much more, from the rustic traditional Catalan food to fine dining. After all, the province boasts some of the world’s top ranking Michelin restaurants such as El Celler de Can Roca and formerly El Bulli. And all of this comes at very reasonable prices so a romantic meal or two won’t break the bank.

But above all there are the glorious golden sandy beaches and rocky coves. Along this runs the Costa Brava coastal path which offers serious walkers or gentle strollers the opportunity to enjoy this coastline up close and personal. Dotted along this coastline are quintessentially Spanish fishing villages like Calella, Llafranc and Tamariu. And with the warmer weather starting from Easter and stretching well into autumn, you can avoid the summer crowds and have the place to yourselves. What more could you wish for?
