Rafe Hall Coach House | A spacious and stunning Essex luxury cottage perfect for romantic breaks

Rafe Hall Coach House is like staying in a luxury boutique hotel but with all the comforts of home, plus space and privacy. No wonder it gets rave reviews from previous guests; it is set in 7 acres of gorgeous gardens and is beautifully designed with no expenses spared. So we reckon it’s pretty much the perfect place to come and enjoy a romantic luxury break in the Essex countryside.

In an era where space is at a premium, Rafe Hall Coach House offers it plentifully. All rooms are spaious, bright and airy, especially the large open plan living, dining and kitchen area with gorgeous period windows.

Wander inside and enjoy the unique art and antiques combined with luxurious soft furnishings and contemporary clean lines. The wooden floors and vaulted beamed ceilings give this place even more character, making your feel instantly at home. And as if there isn’t already enough space, there is a very cool mezzanine chill out area where you can listen to some old vinyl or watch TV while you relax. On top of this there is also a games room with snooker table and table tennis table, complete with sofas, fridge and sound system.

The sitting room has a large flat screen Smart TV with full Sky package and bluetooth music system so you can enjoy your favourite shows or music while on holiday.

The modern kitchen is fully equipped and kitted out with everything you might need to cook a lovely meal or prepare for breakfast in bed.

Talking about beds; both en-suite bedrooms are a picture of tranquility with carefully chosen furniture and decorations. And as you would expect the shower rooms are of top quality.

Outside you can enjoy views over the beautifully landscaped gardens and the countryside beyond. It’s all rather fabulous, complete with pretty patio furniture, raised beds, ancient trees and even a vegetable garden where you can help yourself to some fresh produce.

We love this part of Essex with its pretty rolling patchwork landscape of meadows, woods and fields, dotted with chocolate box villages and cottages. You’ll find a great selection of village pubs and shops selling local produce as well as many pretty walks right from your doorstep.

One place for foodies not to miss is Shillingfords, a pop up “wild food” restaurant at The Quay Theatre in Sudbury. Open only on Fridays and Saturdays in the evening, the restaurant offers beautiful food created by Michelin trained chef, Carl Shillingford. All of the delicious seasonal dishes are prepared with foraged foods collected by Carl and he uses them along with locally sourced ingredients to create some amazing dishes for you to sample. And at only £5.00 - £8.00 a dish, you can try as many as you like without breaking the bank.

And one more thing, be prepared for one of the best welcome hampers you’ve ever had at a holiday cottage…
