The Flat, Shere
If you would like to explore some of England’s unspoilt countryside but aren’t sure where to start then this retreat is an ideal answer for you. The Flat is a brand new apartment designed to offer a stylish home away from home, along with some comfy indulgences. This escape is less than 90 minutes from London, making it perfect for a jump to the country. It offers instant access to Surrey Hills, an area so picturesque that film crews have flocked to the village of Shere to film bits of Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, and hit romantic comedy The Holiday.
The Flat’s location in the village of Shere puts you right inside a charming English community with a small museum, a tearoom, and two pubs, The White Horse and The William Bray, as well as the 12th century St James Church. You are close to the towns of Dorking and Guildford and a stone’s throw from a real walker’s dream – the gorgeous South Downs National Park.
Drive up to the flat and you’ve got your own parking space and a little courtyard shared between The Flat and two other properties. The retreat is on the first floor, overlooking the village and the Surrey Hills. Step inside and you’ll find a clean and cosy minimalist paradise – with not a cluttered spot in the flat.
There’s a comfy living room, with a light and airy feel, complete with yellow sofa, and modern comforts like a wide screen TV and complimentary wifi. From here you can check out the view across the rooftops of Shere and beyond.
The open plan living area also houses the apartment’s kitchen area, with everything you might need during your stay, including an oven and hob, and a fridge freezer. The dining table is the perfect size for two to dine, and keep an eye out for treats left by The Flat’s owner, including fresh loose leaf Assam tea, organic local ground coffee, local farm milk, speciality bread and homemade jam.
In the bedroom you’ll find a cosy king size bed completed with Hungarian Goose Down duvet and French bedlinen. And in the apartment’s separate bathroom the clean and uncluttered feeling continues with soft sand-coloured tiles and sky window.
The Flat is close to restaurants, pubs, tea rooms, coffee shops, and a bakery, so stocking up for breakfast or heading out for a meal will be easy. We fancy trying a spot of fine dining at Kinghams, and perhaps lunch at the popular cafe The Dabbling Duck.
It’s easy to find a beautiful walking spot too, with popular scenic sites including Newlands Corner and the Silent Pool and Leith Hill Tower. With The Flat situated within the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty you will find myriads of walking routes stretching out from Shere too.
