Apple Loft, Blackdown Hills
Twistgates Farm Cottages
We definitely approve of the countryside sunsets you can enjoy from Apple Loft – they look stunning. From this little corner of Devon, you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the county’s quirky little market towns and the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site. This open plan apartment is a relaxed place to run away to, and is the perfect size for two people.
This modern apartment is private and has been created with comfort in mind. Inside, it mixes standout furniture and sleek elements, in a style which has a nice informal feel. You can curl up on the sofa to read the newspapers, and enjoy the balcony views of gently rolling hills, stretching as far as the eye can see. We really like the soft dove grey walls and wooden beams in the living room.
The bedroom has a luxury vibe with a cast iron bed and, for the romantics and those who love a good soak, a free-standing slipper bath. There is an en-suite luxury rain shower, toilet and basin and, to give the room a unique edge, there are quirky elements like an old campaign chest of drawers and a vintage leather suitcase. The apartment’s French doors open onto a balcony with views across the Blackdown Hills. Below is a natural meadow, which you are welcome to explore.
And once you are ready to head out of this romantic retreat you have all of Devon to explore, as well as the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site, market towns like nearby Honiton, as well as cities like Exeter. There are plenty of activities for active couples. Visit Burrow Farm Gardens, aptly described by its owners as East Devon’s secret garden, where you can wander through lovingly designed acres of flowers and mature woodlands. You could visit one of Devon’s beautiful beaches, take a boat cruise, or hire a bike and discover some of East Devon’s beautiful countryside.
There are lots of great places to eat in the area. Apple Loft owners recommend their nearest pub, The Sidmouth Arms for a meal and a pint of the local Otter beer, and have suggested a visit to the Holt where seasonal menus make the best use of Devon’s abundant larder. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage isn’t far, and no visit to the Apple Loft is complete without sampling the award winning Otter Valley Ice Cream.Check Availability & Prices
