Bewerley Hall Cottage | A Romantic Cottage for Two in the Yorkshire Dales

Once the home to the head gardener of Bewerley Hall, and dating back to the 1800’s, this romantic cottage bolt hole is all you need when staying in Nidderdale, Yorkshire.

Overlooking the pretty green of Bewerley, hugged by a row of cherry trees and a classic red phone box, you really can have the best of both worlds staying here - enjoy the peace and quiet of this small village but then just be a five minute walk from Pateley Bridge, the main Dales town of Nidderdale.

Stone steps will lead you into the sitting room, where you’ll be welcomed by the warmth of the exposed stone wall, a fabulous log burning stove situated in the Inglenook fireplace and local art gracing the walls. Cosy up on the sofas, watch a DVD on the flat screen TV, complete with BT Vision or snuggle up with a glass. There is complimentary Wi-Fi and private off street parking is available for two cars around the back of the cottage.

Serve up a treat or two in the oak kitchen with its characterful wooden ceiling, exposed stone and timber framed mullion window. Cath Kidston and Emma Bridgewater touches here and there, creature comforts include dishwasher, washer/dryer and a fabulous downstairs boot room and garden room overlooking Bewerley Park.

Take to the stairs and find yourself in a beautifully appointed romantic bedroom, complete with a lovely country style wrought iron king size bed from Feather & Black and dressed in Egyptian cotton white bed linen from the White Company, feather duvet and pillows. Exposed stone walls, local art and wonderful views can be enjoyed from the window overlooking the village green and Yorkes Folly beyond. Step into the en suite bathroom and relax in the fabulous free standing roll top bath or separate walk in shower with locally sourced organic toiletries from Oakwood Aromatics and fluffy bath sheets.

Follow the sun around the cottage during the day, super patio garden to the rear and a ‘gin and tonic’ bench to the front.

Bewerley is home to a 16th century chapel, fabulous walks from the cottage door including part of the Nidderdale Way, a local horse riding centre and the remains of the Yorke Folly which stands proudly above it looking down upon the village. Pateley Bridge is just a five minute walk from the cottage door and home to two real ale pubs, the Royal Oak and the Crown who serve great British pub food all day, every day. Two award winning butchers – Weatherheads and Kendall’s, wonderful delis, The Old Bakehouse and a superb Italian restaurant called Olleys. For a special treat try The Sportsman’s Arms two miles away to Wath, or even the Michelin starred Yorke Arms at Ramsgill. You’ll also find homely tea rooms, art galleries and gift shops to while away an hour or two.

Walks from the door spider out in all directions, up the dale, down the dale – the choice is yours. Further afield you can enjoy spectacular views from Upper Nidderdale, from Middlesmoor which sits right at the top of the dale, and overlooks picturesque Gouthwaite Reservoir. Fancy blowing away the cobwebs? Head for Scar House Reservoir or Grimworth and why not pay Bolton Abbey and Grassington a visit along the way?

Bewerley Hall Cottage really is the perfect place to stay – enjoy!
