Brook Farm, Berrington | Romantic Bed & Breakfast near Ludlow

Brook Farm, a farmstead dating from around 1650 amid the lovely Welsh Marches countryside, sits in its own little valley - the farmhouse and its outbuildings are surrounded by woodland, a babbling brook, wild meadows and a lovely chaotic garden which owners Sarah and William started in 2003.

An escape from the everyday stresses of life is guaranteed – this really is a “nice little place in the country” – but it’s the hospitality that is truly outstanding: Sarah and William have created a haven to enjoy at a pace that guests themselves can chose. Breakfast is taken at any time in the morning, brunch is on offer for Sundays, there are no B&B style tea trays here; drinks are always available in the guests’ sitting room. Fancy staying in? A platter of delicious local meats and cheeses is available for a truly relaxed evening by the wood burning stove, in a lovely sitting room well stocked with books, games and even a piano. There are lots of treats on offer – homemade cakes, damson vodka, local cider, aromatherapy massages to name but a few.

The bedrooms are full of character, spacious and comfortable, centrally heated and the bathrooms have nice warm towel rails. They have Freeview TV, wifi, hairdryers and natural toiletries. Children are accepted if booking both rooms.

In the local area: the Teme Valley is a real gem with lovely countryside and an unspoilt feel, yet is close to towns such as Ludlow and Leominster which have a good range of antique shops, art galleries and places to eat. Also recommended is a visit to Stockton Bury Gardens which is just a 10 minute drive away: the most perfect and fabulous garden is complemented by a small restaurant serving delicious lunches and teas. Just around the corner is Burford House which has the National Clematis Collection in its lovely gardens, a garden centre and cafe and a reclamation yard.
