Cornish Chough, in Falmouth
This romantic retreat in Cornwall offers couples the chance to unwind in their own luxury home from home, then step out to explore the south coast and one of England’s most creative towns. Cornish Chough is an ideal hideaway for a pair looking for luxury comfort – and their own crackling log fire – by the sea. Dog friendly.
Cornish Chough – pronounced ‘chuff’ – is ideally positioned just 200 metres from Gyllyngvase beach and a 15-minute walk to Falmouth’s historic harbour and town centre.
Step in through the porch and you will find an open plan living and dining room, complete with high ceilings and large Edwardian windows. There’s a relaxed coastal interior and local artwork on the walls. This is a nice place for evenings in, after a day exploring, relaxing on the large three-seater sofa or armchair, with a 43-inch Smart television, along with Netflix, Freeview and wi-fi. You can light your own log fire, with your first basket of logs provided between October and April. There’s also a dining table, where you can expect to find a delicious Cornish cream tea, fresh flowers and fresh fruit on your arrival.
The separate kitchen has its own entrance from the garden. It includes a Neff gas hob and electric oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, dishwasher, toaster and designer accessories by Joseph Joseph – everything you could want for leisurely meals in.
Next, there’s a large light-filled bedroom, with a sumptuous handmade zip and link super king-sized bed, complete with luxury sheets. The owners tell us the bedroom has the thickest most luxurious carpet finish. There are comfortable dressing gowns and slippers for all guests, and there is a modern bathroom with a bath and shower, with complimentary Out of Eden toiletries.
Outside, you can enjoy your own private garden, with a large grassed lawn and Indian sandstone paved terrace. There’s a table and chairs for up to six guests, perfect for alfresco dining, and two sun loungers ready and waiting.
The apartment comes with parking for one vehicle. It does not accept dogs or children and it is also has a no smoking policy.
There’s lots to do in the area. Falmouth, in south Cornwall, offers a wide range of activities suitable for all. Guests have the choice of four spectacular beaches to visit nearby including Castle beach, Maenporth, Swanpool and, closest to the apartment, Gyllyngvase beach.
