Creagach Cottage | A romantic bolthole for couples with views across the beautiful Isle of Skye at Waternish

This is an ideal romantic retreat if you’re looking for stunning sunsets, fresh air and a great escape. Creagach Cottage, in Waternish, has panoramic views across the Loch and nearby islands, to be enjoyed best, we think, from your own living room with its toasty wood-burning stove. The owners have designed this romantic cottage with a relaxing open plan interior, and it’s perfectly placed to enjoy the beauty of the Isle of Skye.

Situated in an acre of attractive gardens in the small and friendly crofting township of Geary, the pretty white Creagach Cottage peeks out from the heathers on the moor. The cottage is situated under one of the darkest skies above Europe so it’s great for star gazing – and at certain times of the year you can even spot the Aurora Borealis.

Inside this retreat you’ll find a cosy living room, complete with a wood burning stove and comfy sofa for relaxing after a day exploring Scotland. There are spectacular sea views from the panoramic windows, and all the modern comforts you might want, including an LED TV and complimentary wifi.

Wander through and discover a tasteful kitchen and dining area with modern cooking appliances ready to create the perfect dinner for two. There’s also an espresso coffee machine and a welcome basket of Scottish goodies to start your holiday with a few treats. The cottage also has a handy utility room and boot store so you can leave your outdoor clothing behind.

The master bedroom has sea views to the front, a comfortable king size bed with luxury bedding. There’s an ensuite toilet and shower room. From here, you can see some pretty stunning views over Loch Snizort to the Ascribs, Creagach, and the Western Isles beyond, as well as enjoying some of the darkest – and starriest – skies anywhere in Britain.

The second bedroom has a double bed and also enjoys sea views. The property is heated by a wood burning stove, for an extra cosy feel alongside the cottage’s central heating. With nothing but the birds, sea and stars outside, you can be sure of a peaceful night’s sleep here. Check out the bathroom too, with underfloor heating. and a comfortable bath for a good soak after a day out on the Isle of Skye.

Once you’re fully rested, there’s a world of adventure to explore on Skye. Make the most of the sea with a Diver’s Eye Boat Trip from Stein, or Dunvegan Castle Seal Trip. You can even head out whale-watching to the remote and beautiful isles of Canna, Rum, Soay and Eigg. Creagach owners suggest a once in a lifetime trip to the double UNESCO heritage site of St. Kilda, and then there’s a whole host of bike trails and walking routes to set out on.

If fine food is your thing then this is a brilliant spot too, with world class restaurants only a short drive or taxi ride from your door. There’s Michael Smith’s Michelin Star-awarded Loch Bay Restaurant, Edinbane Lodge and The Three Chimneys, which all come highly recommended by the cottage owners. They also recommend Stein Inn, Skye’s oldest Inn. It is close by and offers an excellent selection of local beers, gin and whisky, along with all your usual pub meal classics.
