Knoydart Hide | The highest level of luxury and privacy in the UK's last wilderness

Voted one of the top 5 most romantic holiday cottages by The Times in 2016, we knew we just had to include Knoydart Hide in our collection. This very special hideaway is a sharp, architect designed lochside holiday cottage with hot tub and infra red sauna, offering the highest levels of luxury and privacy in a breathtaking setting with the most stunning views. The Knoydart peninsula on the west coast of Scotland is reached by fast water taxi, ensuring you will instantly have that ‘getting away from it all’ feeling in what is one of the UK’s last wildernesses.

Owners Jackie and Ian Robertson have effortlessly blended the new with the old. Outside, the building impresses with its copper roof and jagged shapes mirroring some of the landscape surrounding it. Inside, you’ll find a selection of carefully picked antique furniture adding a sense of indulgence blended with all the latest mod-cons such as Bose bluetooth speakers and docking stations, super-fast broadband and even a professional running machine.

Unique to luxury accommodation of this standard is the fact that little ones or a well behaved pet are also welcome and catered for. A chance to enjoy this escape with the ones you love!

The living room is perfect for relaxing on the stylish sofas around the cylindrical Danish wood burning stove. Every window is designed to take in the unique landscapes surrounding the Hide, from the far reaching views across Loch Nevis to the woodland views from the bedroom and en-suite. It’s this unrivalled setting which makes Knoydart Hide so very special.

Imagine waking up in the antique mahogany super-king sized bed with half canopy, slip into a fluffy monogrammed spa robe and wander over to the kitchen to make what will be a unique breakfast in bed with unbeatable, floor to ceiling views of the surrounding forest.

The luxury theme continues in the bathroom; underfloor heating gently warming the Italian tiles, a large walk in monsoon shower and above all the oval shaped freestanding bath large enough for two with undisturbed views across woodlands through the floor to ceiling height windows. Next-door you’ll find the infra-red sauna or your can wander outside and relax in the private hot-tub kept at a perfect temperature year-round.

Fancy cooking up a storm? The well equipped kitchen makes it a pleasure with Denby crockery, a bread maker, induction hob, microwave oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer and Nespresso coffee machine. Every eventuality is considered so there’s no need to worry about little details such as lobster crackers, wine keepers and scales.

One of the pleasures of staying on the Knoydart peninsula is the fact that you’re on foot. This slows you down and as such Knoydart really is one of the last places to escape the daily rat race of the outside world. But you won’t be bored; there is so much to see and do here, from walking in the area, watching the undisturbed wildlife, going for a pint in the local pub to simply relaxing around the Hide, whether it is in the sauna, the hot tub or soaking up the views on a lazy morning in bed. The owners meet you on arrival to whisk you to Knoydart Hide, it’s only a 5 minute walk but saves carrying anything.

Eating out is another pleasure and there is a surprising choice to say you’re on the edge of the world. You can be fully self catering, partially catered or fully catered for with optional in-house catering available for guests to order hill lamb, Knoydart venison, Fresh langoustines, lobsters, hand dived scallops and Loch Nevis Seafood Platters direct to your door. Or you can dine out ar Doune Award Winning Dining Room , a magical shoreline setting not to be missed. This seasonal restaurant on the coastline at Doune offers one sitting, a three course menu, all freshly prepared delicious homegrown and organic home cooking. Perfect for a special romantic occasion. There is also The Old Forge pub, mainland Britains remotest pub Guinness Book of records and the Knoydart Pottery and Tearoom all but a five minute walk away.
