Forester's Lodge, Ardnamurchan | A luxury lodge with spa bath and stunning views

This luxury lodge is set in its own grounds and features a large south-facing veranda with covered seating and incredible views of the river and Beinn Resipol - a great place for watching the wildlife like pine martens and barn owls in all weathers. Or at night discover the pleasures of star gazing in this amazing dark sky area. Forester’s Lodge is not part of a big development, instead it’s a one-off romantic retreat in the grounds of the owner’s house with its own garden area and private parking.

In the open plan living room you can relax on the comfy sofa or arm chair in front of the electric feature fireplace. There’s a fully equipped kitchen with all mod-cons and the dining area offers views to the south and east so you can take in the stunning sunrises from here. And if you don’t fancy cooking then the owners also offer delicious home made pizzas from their wood-fired oven.

The bedroom has a king size bed with luxury Egyptian cotton sheets and towels, and more stunning views to the river and mountains. Step into the en-suite bathroom and you will find a corner spa bath large enough for two, a separate shower and the luxury of a traditional steam sauna - perfect for relaxing after a day out in the wilds of Scotland.

There is so much to see and do in this area. From scenic drives to serious hikes and from mountain bike rides (available to hire from the cottage) to eating out. The Glenfinnan steam railway and viaduct, made famous by the Harry Potter films, is a must see. Or enjoy a local walk from your front door with spectacular views of Loch Shiel and over to Skye and the Cuillins. On our visit to Ardnamurchan we loved the incredible array of wildlife including over 135 bird species and mammals such as minke whale, killer whale, seals, dolphins, pine marten, otter, red squirrel… Add to that several restaurants and cafes offering fresh local produce and the feeling of being somewhere remote and exciting, and we think this is pretty much the perfect place for a romantic break in Scotland.
