This luxury retreat is the perfect place for a couple to unwind – with valley and mountain views you can enjoy from your own terrace, complete with your own deluxe four person Hydro pool hot tub. The Bach at Upper Gelli is nestled on a hill side slope, just five miles outside of Welshpool, with amazing views across and down the valley and towards Cadir Idris and the Berwyn and Arran Mountain Ranges. It was once a milking parlour and, with a lot of love, it has been recreated to give guests a five star experience.
Step into this retreat and you’ll find everything has been created to impress. The sitting room, for example, has been designed with a great wood burning stove, complete with complimentary logs, comfortable seating, a TV and DVD player, free w-fi and, our favourite part, bi- folding doors so you can let the uninterrupted views of the country inside.
Step out of here and you’ll find a stunning outdoor terrace, complete with day beds, for chilled out afternoons in the sunshine or enjoy alfresco dining and experience spectacular sunsets.
Meanwhile, back inside, there’s a bespoke kitchen, which comes fully equipped with everything you might need to cook up your own delights. Keep an eye out for your complimentary basket of local and Welsh goodies. Delicious!
Then there are The Bach’s beautiful bedrooms. Both have been styled with vintage brass beds and luxury Egyptian cotton linen. And, alongside each, you’ll find an elegant en suite shower room where you’ll be treated to soap and beauty products from Llanvalley Natural Skin Care.
The Bach is part of Gelli Uchaf, a former dairy farm nestled in a cluster of working farms. There is a traditional dairy herd nearby, a sheep farm and two mixed sheep and beef cattle farms, and you’re likely to spot fields being ploughed, or newborn lambs, or haymaking, depending on when you visit. It’s the real country experience!
You can dip into country activities while you’re here, with a chance to try Game and Clay Pigeon shooting. Aside from this there is also a huge array of traditional walks to explore with guide books and maps provided. If you just want to stretch your legs take a wander around seven acres with its impressive views or relax in the Barn garden or sit and enjoy the views from the Duck Pond.
Shrewsbury is only a short drive away, with its medieval cobbled streets and lots of little boutiques and cafes. Alternative, head West on a scenic tour and you’ll be able to enjoy the rocky coves and white sandy beaches of the Welsh coastline. We highly recommend Powys Castle for lovers of romantic gardens and history or head out on the historic narrow gauge steam railway, set in the beautiful Banwy Valley.
