The Clock Tower at Barton Court | A romantic holiday cottage for couples in between Ledbury and Malvern

The Clock Tower at Barton Court was built in the 18th century by Henry Lambert as part of an elaborate scheme to woo the local heiress. His plan of creating an exquisite property that she could not resist worked. She married him and they and their descendants lived happily at Barton Court for over 100 years.

Essentially a practical little house for a trusted worker who kept time for the estate, an immense amount of care was lavished on the design and styling of the Clock Tower, from the little work of art that is the clock face to the enclosed kennel run and hound wash for the servant’s dogs.

It is situated in the grounds of Barton Court on the edge of the village of Colwall, Herefordshire. Blissfully quiet, the views that surround the property are stunning. The village, which boasts a hotel, two eateries, three pubs, a shop and a station is midway between the historic and diverse towns of Ledbury and Malvern and within easy reach of the South West, Midlands and Wales.

All the normal country pursuits are on the doorstep with spectacular walks to enjoy just outside the door. Malvern has a highly regarded theatre and some excellent restaurants while Ledbury is arty and foodie. There is lots to enjoy in the vicinity.

The Clock Tower has been virtually untouched and the owners are merely gently refurbishing the delightful characteristics that are already in place while introducing some creature comforts for the modern romantic.
