The Stables | A truly relaxing romantic cottage for couples in Essex

“Our stay at The Stables was our dream weekend; we felt completely disconnected and enjoyed every minute of our peaceful retreat.” We think this guest comment really sums up what makes this romantic Essex bolthole so special. Located in a very secluded area with great access to footpaths and quiet lanes you can really escape everyday life and completely chill in these stylish surroundings.

This cottage is super stylish and cosy at the same time; think Ralph Lauren chocolate box cottage. Step inside open plan living room and you’ll be welcomed by the comfy sofas, wood burner and some nice antique furniture, giving this place instant character. The vaulted beamed ceiling makes for a bright and airy feel. Up a couple of steps is the gorgeous handmade kitchen with everything you’ll need to cook up a storm and there is even a BBQ for those long summer evenings.

The views are great too, whether it is across to the beautiful brick and flint barn, onto the pretty courtyard or the lovely garden with fruit trees.

Head into the corridor and you’ll find the spacious modern shower room and the large bedroom with kingsize bed, French wardrobe and plenty of storage space. Again this room has been designed and furnished with a lot of thought and attention to detail so you’ll feel right at home.

Outside there is plenty of space to relax and unwind with a large garden and lovely countryside views. There won’t be much road noise either as this rural retreat is located on a quiet little lane.

It’s a real treat to be able to explore miles of footpaths, ancient bluebell woodlands and quiet lanes right from your own doorstep. And with the bikes provided there’s no excuse not to venture out on a nice day; it’s a great way to slow down and unwind.

The Stables is close to some of the area’s nicest towns and villages with some great places to stop for a bite or a drink. Castle Hedingham is a super cute medieval village with a village store, post office, artisan baker and some good pubs. There are lots of activities throughout the year at the castle itself so this is always worth checking out.

Just up the road is the old town of Sudbury or a little further afield is Bury St. Edmunds where we enjoyed its architecture, old streets, parks and of course, shops.

Enjoy a truly relaxing romantic break at The Stables and no doubt you will also disconnect and have a dream weekend.
